Lonesome George Has Passed Away

Lonesome George, the rarest animal on the planet (because he was the last one of his species), has died. He was over 100 years old, but his caretakers expected him to live much, much longer. These tortoises usually live to be 200 years old!
Another species has gone extinct. Rest in peace, Chelonoidis abingdoni (Lonesome George).
